Abstract

477,449. Screw fans; turbines. BENNETT, N. D. June 30, 1936, No. 18088. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] The power of a fan driven by a turbine is increased by expelling the exhaust from the impeller blades against fixed vanes. The turbine 2 is coupled by a hollow shaft 3 with the impeller 1 having passages 9 in or adjacent the blades 10 to direct the exhaust against one or more series of vanes 12 fixed on the casing 5. The passages 9 may be cast in the blades or may comprise tubes fixed to the blades or screwed into the hub 14 behind the blades. The blades may be formed with flat surfaces at the nozzles 11.
