Abstract

Blades.-In a turbine of the type in which the blades are held by their roots in a groove in the turbine wheel and the gap through which they are introduced to the groove is closed by a member of trapezoidal shape, the roots of blades adjacent to the closing-member are made inclined to the radial direction so as to distribute over several blade roots the stresses due to the centrifugal force acting on the closing-member. For example, the contacting surfaces of adjacent blades F, H, J, L, Fig. 3, are inclined as shown. The closing-member comprises two parts D, E; the latter being driven into place last and the former hammered over it to secure it.
