362,291. Steam-power plant. RUTHSACCUMULATOR AKTIEBOLAG, 1A, Eriksbergsgatan, Stockholm. March 21, 1931, No. 8801. Convention date, April 5, 1930. [Class 122 (iii).] In a stand-by steam-power plant an accumulator 1 is adapted initially to supply the live-steam turbine 4 as well as its own turbine 3, until steam is raised in a boiler 2 with small w a te r space. The turbines 3, 4 drive electric generators 5, 6 which work as synchronous motors and supply mains 7. A pipe 11 with a non-retum valve 10 is arranged between the accumulatorsteam pipe 9 and the live-steam pipe 8. A byepass 12 with a live-steam, pressure-controlled, overflow valve 13 bridges the valve 10. Upon failure of power, boiler 2 is heated, and the accumulator 1 supplies steam to turbine 3 and through the pipe 11 to turbine 4. As soon as steam is raised in boiler 2 it takes part in the steam supply, the accumulator supplying only its own turbine 3. When the interruption is prolonged, a further boiler 14 is put into use and supplies the turbine 3 when the accumulator has reached its lowest working pressure. The surplus steam from the two boilers may charge the accumulator. The place of the live-steam engine and the -accumulator-steam engine may be taken by an engine with live-steam and accumulator-steam sections.
