Convention date, July 19, 1929. Addition to 247,186, [Class 123 (ii), Steam generators]. [Class 123 (ii).] In a plant comprising a critical pressure boiler 1 and an auxiliary turbine 3 for reducing the pressure of the boiler steam to working pressure, and serving to drive the feed pump 4, as described in the parent Specification, excessive loads on the feed pump are met bv an electric balancing machine 5 and by a turbine section 11, which normally runs idle, but which is supplied with steam from a steam accumulator 12 or other external source when the turbine 3 and the machine 5 are insufficient to drive the feed pump. A governor 8 on the turbine 3 opens and closes a valve 9 in a byepass 10 between the overflow valve 2 and the steam main 6 as the load on the turbine falls and rises. The governor 8 also controls the supply of steam to the turbine section 11.
