Abstract
386,578. Hydraulic turbines. DELL, N. E., 285, 15th Street, Buffalo, New York, U.S.A. July 29, 1932, No. 21408. [Class 110 (iii).] A turbine 5 is driven by water supplied from a tank 1 to a tank 4 and acted on by a weight 15. The falling water in the feed pipe 3 entrains air which passes from the tank 4 to an auxiliary tank 16, which is under the head of water in a tank 18. Air is taken from the tank 16 to a heater 136 and is then used in a motor 36 which drives an air pump 29. This pump supplies a motor 28 which drives a pump 25 ; this latter pump returns water from the lower reservoir 2 to the feed tank 1. The exhaust of the air motor 36 may be introduced at 41 into the feed pipe 3, or may be led to a compressor 38 driven by an outside source of power from which it passes to the tank 4.
