Abstract
234,478. Ruths, J. K., (known as Ruths, J.). May 21, 1924, [Convention date]. Automatic gear.-In a plant comprising boilers 1, a steam regenerative accumulator 6 and a turbine or other power element 3 driving an electric generator 5, a too-rapid admission of steam to the turbine 3 from the accumulator 6 when the latter is at high pressure, is prevented by a valve adjusted by hand or by the pressure in the accumulator. The turbine receives a main supply from pipe 11 and valve 12, and an auxiliary supply from the accumulator controlled by valves 14, 15 under the control of a governor 13 which controls the valve 12. Interposed between the accumulator 6 and the valves 14, 15 is a screwoperated conical valve 8 controlled by a fluid relay, the controlling valve 23 of which is through hunting-gear controlled by the pressure in the accumulator 6 and the relay piston 20.
