Regulating. - A valve a which-is opened at excessive speeds so as to destroy the vacuum in the condenser k is adapted to be opened at will so that the turbine may run non-condensing. The valve a is actuated by steam or an oil pressure relay system e - - h controlled by a speed governor b. The valve a may be opened at will bv means of a control valve i which may cut off the pressure of the oil or steam or may admit the full pressure through a bye-pass which short circuits the governor control.
