Fluid governors; fluid relays.-In a governor in which the regulating device of the prime mover is controlled by a fluid relay under the influence of a pressure-responsive device, two pumps are provided, of which one is connected to the pressure responsive device and the other to the fluid relay. The turbine shaft has two impellers 26, 27 supplying oil to the cylinder 21 and relay valve 15 respectively. When the speed increases the piston 20 is moved upward to actuate the valve 15 through the floating lever 16 admitting oil above the relay piston 13 which is moved downward to actuate the throttle valve through the lever 9 and to restore the valve, 15 to neutral position. A slight flow of oil through the cylinder 21 is allowed by the restricted orifice 36 in order to dissipate heat generated by the action of the impeller 26.
