Regulating; leakagefluid, facilitating escape of.-Relates to a by-pass device for preventing acceleration or racing of steam turbines after the governor valve has been closed, arising from steam leaking past the valve or from steam remaining in the system after the valve closure. In an installation comprising high and low pressure turbines 1, 2 and having a reheater 5 in the intermediate piping 4, 6, a by-pass 8 controlled by a valve 9 operatively connected with the main or emergency governor is adapted to open simultaneously with or promptly after the closure of a governor valve and lead the leakage or residual steam direct to the condenser 7. The by-pass may connect any suitable part of relatively high pressure with one of low pressure.
