Abstract
464,258. Safety cut off valves. JUNKERS & CO., GES. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27645. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1935. [Class 135] In a safety cut-off valve not functioning as a regulating valve, an additional loading is imposed on the diaphragm, in the form of a flexible stop which comes into action only after the valve is fully open. The diaphragm is thus constantly moving under fluctuations of gas-pressure, and is thereby prevented from hardening. In the Figure, the valve 12 falls to closed position on failure of gas-pressure. On restoration of pressure and closure of all taps at 11, pressure builds up through the bleed 16 underneath diaphragm 13 to open the valve, the spring load 20 coming into action when the valve is fully open. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the spring is mounted on the cover.
