Abstract
236,104. Cockburns, Ltd., and Mac- Nicoll, D. Dec. 9, 1924. Safety valves.-A safety valve 4 provided with an auxiliary lifting member 2 has this member arranged with excessive clearance in a cylinder 3, means being provided to prevent excessive leakage to waste through the port 8 when the valve is open. In the form shown in the Figure, excessive leakage is prevented by a member 5 loosely engaging the lever spring abutment 6 and adapted to seat on the upper edge of the cylinder 3. The member 5 is normally retained in position by gravity assisted by steam pressure acting on a shoulder 5<1>. A spring may be arranged between the member 5 and the abutment 6. The member 5 may be slidably mounted in the casing so as to function as a leakage intercepting member.
