226,728. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., and Kemnal, Sir J. May 3, 1924. Safety valves.-A safety valve actuated by inlet pressure acting on a piston under the control of an auxiliary valve has the main valve provided with interfitting perforated anti-scoring flanges and has the pilot valve arranged to oonnect the actuating chamber to atmosphere when the pressure is normal. The main valve 2 is opened against the pressure of the fluid and the action of a loading spring 13 by conduit pressure acting on a piston 10. The spring-loaded auxiliary valve 12 which admits conduit pressure to the actuating chamber is coupled to a piston 14 working in a cylinder 15 provided with ports 16, 18 so that when the valve 12 is closed the actuating chamber is connected to atmosphere through ports 16, 18. The main valve member is provided with a perforated flange 3 adapted to slide over a corresponding flange 6 surrounding the valve seat 5. One pilot valve may be arranged to control two main valves.
