Abstract
215,273. Bancroft, N. W. Nov. 14, 1923. Stop valves; closure members, compound.-A self closing tap for water or other liquid comprises a piston actuated by a push rod and working in a cylinder having inlet and outlet ports communicating with a surrounding chamber, the piston carrying also a conical lift closure member. The piston W with its conical extension M is actuated by a push rod 3 to move within a cylinder 5. The cylinder is surrounder by a chamber A which is always open to the inlet pressure through ports P, while the outlet ports P<1> are controlled by the piston. The valve is closed by fluid pressure, and slow seating is ensured by the conical member M. The head B is provided with a bayonet slot engaging with a pin projecting from the casing, so that the valve may be locked in open position.
