Abstract
191,802. Pillon, A., and Ravaz, E. Oct. 13, 1921. Valves closing after predetermined interval or flow.-A valve for delivering liquid for a predetermined time interval, is provided with a piston valve closing the outlet, and a lift valve combined with a slow leakage device closing the inlet. The body R is provided with an inlet a communicating with a cylindrical chamber c, j, and an outlet b communicating with a smaller chamber d. The body R is closed at one end by a plug f and at the other end by a cap i. The chamber d contains a cylinder l which is open at one end and provided at the other end with a perforated disc k. An extension m of the cylinder carries a handle n, while a central bore o forms a guide for a rod q provided with grooves u and a collar t at the other end. The disc valve g is mounted on the grooved portion of the rod by means of a sleeve which is capable of a slight longitudinal movement, and the valve carries a piston h sliding in the cylindrical chamber c. The end of the rod q carries a disc valve s which is pressed against its seating on the main valve by means of a spring v. Calibrated openings w are provided in the piston. When the valve is in the closed position, the outlet d is uncovered, but the valve g is closed by the spring v and the pressure of liquid behind the piston. When the handle n is pressed inwards, the outlet d is first closed and the rod q is then pressed inwards to open the valve s. Liquid then flows through the grooves u into the space e, relieving the pressure on the back of the piston h. The valve g is then fully opened, but the valve l remains closed. When the handle n is pulled out again, the valve l is opened, and liquid is free to flow through the device. The valve g is gradually closed by fluid pressure assisted by the spring v at a rate determined by the passage of water through the opening w, so that a supply of liquid is obtained for a definite period. Specification 28463/04 is referred to.
