Abstract

771,027. Fluid-actuated valves. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. May 17, 1955 [May 20, 1954], No. 14186/55. Class 135. A flow regulating valve for use in drinking fountains &c. comprises an outlet nozzle 14 connecting the valve body 11 to the fountain and a tubular inlet nipple 22 closed at its inner end. Radial ports 23 in the nipple which open into an annular recess 24 co-operate with radial ports 28 in a spring-loaded valve sleeve 27 formed with an enlarged head 29. Clearance between the head and the body bore permits flow to the nozzle 14 and water pressure acting on the undersurface of the head urges the sleeve towards closure against its spring to regulate the flow. A perforated disc 36 having a screwdriver slot is screwed into the body bore and may be adjusted from outside the nozzle to adjust the spring loading.
