In a rotatable conical plug valve of the type having a transversely ported plug 12 alignable with inlet and outlet ports 14, 15, a screwthreaded portion 25 of the plug engages a screw-threaded sleeve 18 so that the plug is eased axially off its seat, the sleeve 18 being angularly adjustable, e.g. by splines 26 on the sleeve engaging corresponding splines on the body, to set the plug initially and accommodate for wear down in use.
