Abstract

953,949. Valves. FABBRICA ITALIANA PLASTIC S.a.r.L. March 14, 1962 [March 29, 1961], No. 9762/62. Heading F2V. A spherical plug cock is provided with sealing rings 20 engaging the plug and carried by sleeves 2, 3 coaxial with the flow passage. The sleeve 2 carries teeth 5 which engage in slots of the housing while a second sleeve 4 formed with similar teeth 5 abuts the shoulder 8 of sleeve 3. Rings 6, screwed on to the housing abut the teeth to provide axial adjustment of the sleeves and sealing rings and the position of the teeth 5 indicate the degree of wear of the rings. By providing the two rings 3, 4 on the right-hand side, the removal of the rings and a plug pivot 13 allows the housing to be slid along a piping to the right to give access to the sealing rings. A bore 26 in the plug allows fluid pressure to flow to the outer side of the plug which provides easier actuation by the handle 17, which carries a position indicator and is movable between stops. The rings may be replaced by rings screwed into the housing having flanges whose position indicate the condition of the sealing rings.
