Abstract

570,317. Double-beat valves. WINN & CO., Ltd., C., and MOUSLEY, N. K. Nov. 4, 1943, No. 18286. [Class 135] A valve of the double-beat type in which an axially movable spindle carries a valve head having a face or washer at each end or two spaced heads adapted to engage respectively with one of two axiallyspaced seatings, is pro. vided with two valve heads s, t, freely mounted on a spindle m between a collar u and nut v and adapted to engage respectively with seatings f, e to control the flow of fluid from the passage d to either of the passages b, c or by placing the valve heads in an intermediate position to allow fluid to pass from the passage d to both of the passages b, c. A compressible washer z is arranged between the valve heads so that when either valve head is urged against its seating by axial movement of the spindle the thrust is applied through one of the collars u, v bearing against the other valve head and is transmitted through the washer which is pressed around the spindle to seal the space between the spindle and valve heads. The axial length of the valve heads and washer is less than the distance between the collars u, v so that when neither valve head is in contact with its seating both heads are rotatable on the spindle.
