Abstract

849,942. Valves. DAMIC CONTROLS Ltd. Jan. 14, 1959 [Jan. 16, 1958], No. 1589/58. Class 135. A fluid control valve comprises a body having an inlet connection 2 and an outlet connection 3 and a valve closure member 5 biased in a closing direction by a light spring 16. The closure member 5 is provided with an axial passage 29 whereby the pressure of fluid acting on the closure member in a direction tending to displace it from its seating is also applied to the rear face of the valve member, the fluid passing through radial passages 32 at the rear end of the valve member. The effective cross-sectional area for partial counterbalancing purposes is slightly greater than the cross-sectional area of the valve face. The closure member is constructed in two parts 7 and 9 in threaded engagement with each other, the two parts together providing an annular groove housing a resilient " O " ring 11. The valve spindle 18 may be activated manually, pneumatically or by means of a solenoid, the core of the solenoid being coupled to the extremity of the spindle on the occurrence of an excess inlet pressure, the valve will open and function as a pressure relief valve.
