917,614. Valves. BROEN, P. R. Dec. 16, 1960, No. 43433/60. Class 135. A rotary-spherical valve comprises a spherical closure member 1 having a flow passage 2 and adapted to be turned by a spindle 8 located in a bore 10 of a one-piece housing 5, an 0-ring 9 being located between the spindle and the housing, the spindle being integral or permanently associated with the spherical part of the closure member and having a length and width relative to the bore such that it may be introduced into the bore 10 as the closure member and spindle are introduced as a unit through the inlet or outlet opening 4 of the housing. A resilient 0-ring is located between the rings 14, 15 in order to urge the spherical closure member into contact with its seat. The valve may be located in a faucet in order to prevent flow through the tap while repairs are effected to the main closure member.
