749,785. Valve closure members. HAMMEL-DAHL CO. Aug. 26, 1953, No. 23564/53. Class 135. A valve designed to prevent cavitation has a valve member comprising a plug 22 of inverted cup-shape having a series of holes 24 which may be opened or closed progressively as the valve is moved with respect to its seat 14, the bores of the holes being screw-threaded or otherwise provided with undulated surfaces to promote the maximum friction to the flowing fluid. The invention is shown applied to a doublebeat type of valve having two valve plugs 22 mounted on an actuating stem 21 and controlling the flow from an inlet 12 to an outlet 11. Fig. 3 shows one of the holes 24 with a screw thread 25 therein.
