702,736. Preventing leakage from valves. JENSEN, A. April 27, 1953, No. 11536/53. Class 135 In a valve device for atomizing fluids of the kind in which the fluid enters at 3 along the axis of the valve 9 and flows out through a lateral port 14, and the screw threads 7 on the valve stem are protected from the fluid when the valve is open by a flange 10 seating on the end wall of the valve chamber, the port 14 is so positioned at the rear of the valve chamber that, at the end of each complete opening movement and the beginning of each closing movement of the valve, the flange will pass by the port. The narrow gap between the flange and the wall of the valve chamber ensures that, once the valve has been opened and the fluid has access to all parts of the valve chamber, the fluid passing the flange will have its pressure so reduced that it cannot damage the screw threads 7.
