935,546. Valves. RHEINISCHES METALLWERK G.m.b.H. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 18, 1958], No. 38975/59. Class 135. A valve comprises a closure member 12 reciprocable by a spindle 13 to control flow through a transverse passageway. The closure member 12 is provided with an extension 18, at least partially covered with elastomeric material, such that when the valve is open, the material engages a recess 19 in the housing cover, to seal the spindle passage through the cover from the flow passage. The closure member 12 may also be covered, wholly or partially by the material. Passages 23 may be provided through which fluid is forced from the recess during the opening movement of the valve and a flange 28 between the closure member and the extension closes the ends of these passages when the valve is open.
