Abstract

556,863. Valves. ACROTORQUE CO. April 22, 1942, No. 5417. Convention date, May 16, 1941. [Class 135] A valve device closed against a spring load by the rush of fluid has an adjustable stop to limit its opening and spring catches for locking it in its closed position. The valve casing 7 is externally threaded on either side of a flange 8 with a hexagonal periphery whereby it is mounted between the ends of two pipes 5, 6. Internally one end is coned at 12 to provide a seat for the tapered valve 11 which is formed with spring fingers 13. Normally the tapered ends of these fingers slide. in a cylindrical bore in a partition 9 with arcuate passages 10 inserted in the member 7. When the valve is closed by the rush of fluid the ends of the fingers snap over the end of the partition to hold the valve until the pipe joint is broken and the valve manually opened. A cap 16 with a screw-driver slot 17 is adjustably secured to a spindle 15 fixed to the valve member and co-operates with the partition 9 to limit the opening of the valve.
