Abstract

880,131. Valves. DAMIC CONTROLS Ltd. Aug. 25, 1959 [Nov. 13, 1958], No. 36585/58. Class 135. A solenoid-operated fluid control valve comprises a casing 1, 2 containing the solenoid windings 15 and having an inlet 3 and an outlet 23 for the fluid and a valve seating 19, a combined valve closure member and solenoid core 5, 8, 9, 10 slidable axially in the casing and moved to a position in which the closure member 5, 8 engages the seating by a spring 6, the valve closure member and solenoid core having an axial bore 36 whereby the inlet pressure has access to the end of the core away from the valve closure member which end forms a piston 9, 10, the pressure of the fluid acting thereon in a direction to assist the spring to maintain the closure member in engagement with the seating, the solenoid when energized moving the closure member off its seating against the pressure of the spring and fluid. The valve member is provided with an " O " sealing ring 20. Peripheral grooves 11 on the core connect the inlet and outlet in open position. The skirt part 10 of the piston slides over a seal 27 on a fixed outlet member 22. In a modification, the valve member moves between opposite seats to connect the inlet 3 to a side outlet when energized, or to vent this side outlet through the fixed member 22 when de-energized.
