Abstract

1365189 Valves GIRLING Ltd 27 April 1973 [14 April 1972] 17202/72 Heading F2V A three-way solenoid valve comprises an inlet 14, outlet 13 and exhaust (from annular passage 36), a valve member 20 urged against a first seat 21 by a spring loaded push rod 32, and a second seat 22 by fluid pressure after activation of a solenoid 24, wherein the valve is characterized by making the valve member 20 or seat member 9 a permanent magnet and the other of these parts of magnetizable material such that an additional magnetic closing force is created which tends to centre the valve member on the seat. The fluid from the inlet can pass to the outlet when the solenoid is activated by overcoming the magnetic closing force and flowing through a passage (not shown) in an insert 16.
