Abstract
391,483. Stop valves with supplementary valves. MASON, H. L., 103, King Henry's Road, South Hampstead, London. Oct. 26, 1931, No. 29582. Divided on 391,438. [Class 135.] An emergency or supplementary check valve for controlling the flow through valve seating apertures when the main valve closure is removed for inspection or repairs comprises a perforated thimble-like device u, Fig. 1, having upper and lower retaining flanges z, y, the lower flange y acting as the closure member when forced up into the main valve seating aperture w by the fluid pressure. To prevent return flow from an installation when the main valve is opened out, a second similar check device may be installed in the outlet side of the main valve casing. Fig. 7 7 shows a dual arrangement in connection with a lift wedge valve 42, the lower edge of which is rounded or formed to press the check devices outwards into open position as it is closed down. Specification 391,438 is referred to in the complete Specification and Specifications 303,770, [Class 135, Valves &c.], and 349,986 are referred to in the Provisional Specification.
