Abstract

150,347. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Aug. 25, 1919, [Convention date]. Regulating.-Relates to means for controlling a valve l admitting live steam into the exhaust steam pipe of back-pressure turbines, the exhaust steam of which is used for heating purposes, and consists in effecting said control by means of the control oil of the turbine live-steam admission valve i. The back-pressure turbine may work in parallel with other engines, or alone. The exhaust steam pressure acts on a diaphragm a controlling a valve having two distributing-edges c, d which, together with a slot f controlled by a speed governor h, regulate the oil pressure on the pistons k, m actuating the valves i, l. With a diminishing demand for heating-steam, the pressure-regulator a opens the lower oil-discharge passage d, and the valve i tends to close. With an increasing demand, the reverse takes place, and if at full load on the back-pressure turbine its exhaust steam does not satisfy the heating requirements, the pressure-regulator a opens the upper oil-discharge passage c, thereby admitting pressure oil to open the additional valve l and supply livesteam direct to the heating-pipe. The oil pressure under the piston k is maintained by the compensating closure of the lower passage d.
