Abstract
662,102. Superheating and reheating steam. MARGUERRE, F. June 20, 1949 '[June 21, 1948], No. 16291/49. Class 123(iii) In steam plant comprising a boiler 1, primary and secondary superheaters 2, 3, and, for example, high and low pressure turbines 4, 6, exhaust steam from the turbine 4 is reheated at 5 by steam from the primary superheater 2, the degree of reheating being controlled by a valve 12 which is located in a byepass parallel with the reheater and may be actuated automatically by means 13 responsive to the steam temperature at the inlet to the turbine 5. The remaining steam from the primary superheater 2 flows to the secondary superheater 3 either direct through a valve 8 or through a desuperheater 7 with valve 10, the valves 8, 10 being linked by a lever 9 and actuated by means 11 responsive to the temperature of the steam supply to the turbine 4 so as to maintain constant the pressure drop between the two superheaters and, consequently, also the flow through the reheater 5. In an alternative arrangement the byepass valve 12 is omitted and the connection between the valves 8, 10 is modified so that the steam flow through the reheater may be varied.
