Abstract
658,081. Water-tube steam boilers; superheaters and reheaters. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd. Sept. 2, 1949, No. 22803. Convention date, Sept. 17,1948. [Classes 123(ii) and 123(iii)] In a steam boiler comprising a vertical water-tube cooled furnace 10 fired by angularly-adjustable burners 16 and having an outlet flue locating primary and secondary superheaters 21, 22 and a reheater 20, the superheat temperature is controlled by a de-superheater 25, preferably spray-type, interposed in the conduit between the outlet header 23 and the inlet header 24 of the two superheaters 21, 22 respectively, while the reheat temperature is controlled by adjustment of the burners so as to alter the location of the combustion zone A, as described in Specification 642,671. The supply of water to the de-superheater 25 may be regulated by a valve 26 subject to fluctuations in the temperature of the steam at 28 in the secondary superheater outlet 27, and the gas outlet temperature from the furnace is preferably regulated automatically by motors 38 which are under the control of a thermostat 36 in the reheater outlet conduit 34 and are adapted to adjust the burners as required.
