938,470. Controlling steam temperature in boilers. SUPERHEATER CO. Ltd. Jan. 20, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1959], No. 2110/59. Class 123 (3). In a water-tube boiler having a furnace 1 in the upper part of which is disposed a pendant, radiantly-heated superheater 10 and wherein a lateral pass 3 locating a further superheater 11 and a reheater 5 leads from the furnace to a downpass 4 in which are disposed primary superheaters 8, 9 and economizers 6, 7, steam temperature is regulated by recirculating flue gas withdrawn from the bottom of the downpass to the furnace under the control of dampers 18 and to the zone between the superheater 11 and the reheater 5 under the control of dampers 17, the latter control enabling reheat temperature to be regulated without affecting the heat input to the final stage superheaters 10, 11.
