970,381. Steam superheaters. SUPERHEATER CO. Ltd. Feb. 16, 1961 [Nov. 17, 1959], No. 38976/59. Heading F4A. In an independently fired superheater the gases from a burner 2 are cooled by contact with a tubulous water heater 10 lining the lower part of the chamber, the heater 10 carrying water, the temperature of which does not rise to the boiling point corresponding to its working pressure. The water heater 10 in the furnace is arranged in series with an economizer 6 disposed in the outlet passage 3 therefrom. The steam to be heated flows successively through a radiant superheater 11, the tubes of which line the upper part of the furnace, and convection superheaters 5, 4 located in the passage 3. An air heater 7 or a fuel heater is disposed in the passage 3 below the economizer 6.
