Abstract

U-tube superheaters; dampers for controlling superheaters.-A steam boiler installation comprising a steam generator, a superheater, a steam reheater, and an air heater is characterized in that two interconnected dampers 5, 6 are provided which co-operate in such manner as to permit gases to pass either from the furnace through part of the generator 1 and superheater 2 to the reheater 3 and thence to the air heater 4, or through part of the generator 1 and superheater 2 to the air heater 4 or through the whole of the generator 1 and superheater and reheater 3 to the air heater 4. The dampers 5, 6 are connected by chains 7 to interconnected shafts 9, 9<a> respectively so that they move in opposite directions. The superheater and reheater may be of the U-tube type.
