Abstract

394,417. Steam superheaters. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd. and WOOD, J. E., Bush House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 4, 1932, No. 3378. [Class 123 (iii).] To control the superheat of steam from a twostage superheater 18, 19 and to protect the elements of the final stage from overheating, the steam is passed through both a non-contact desuperheater 2 and a contact superheater 3, the water sprayed into the contact desuperheater being highly heated in the coils 6 of the non-contact desuperheater, and the quantity of water flowing through the coils and spray nozzles being controlled by a thermostat 11 in the steam supply main. Both the desuperheaters may be arranged between the two superheater stages, as shown, or one desuperheater may be arranged between the stages and the other on the delivery side of the final stage.
