Abstract

429,604. Desuperheating steam by water sprays. O'BREEN, J. E., and GORDON & CO., Ltd., J., Regent House, Kingsway, London. Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33814. [Class 55 (ii)] Steam is desuperheated by so injecting it from the main 2 into a space 1 of larger section that it traverses the space with a whirling motion, and water is sprayed axially into the space from a nozzle 4. A thermostat 8 near the steam outlet 11 controls the water supply to the nozzle. The steam may enter the space tangentially or it may be given the whirling motion by suitably shaped vanes.
