Abstract
1338860 Treating boiler make-up water FOSTER WHEELER CORP 1 Nov 1972 50427/72 Heading F4A A method of treating make-up water for a steam cycle which uses a boiler 10 supplying steam to a turbine 14 and receiving feedwater which is heated by exhaust steam from the turbine in heaters 32, 34, 36, 38, 48 and 50, comprises drawing off drains from the feedwater heaters, mixing with make-up water, deaerating the resultant mixture and passing it through the heaters to the boiler. The cascading drains from the successive heaters are injected from a nozzle (88), Fig. 2 (not shown), into a line 84 carrying make-up water from tank 80, and the resultant mixture, which is nearly at saturation temperature, is deaerated by being sprayed into a stream of exhaust steam in the condenser 18. Further make-up water is deaerated in heater 38 after being heated in evaporator 92 by steam from line 68.
