Abstract
794,562. Regulating steam temperature. THOMPSON WATER TUBE BOILERS, Ltd., J. Feb. 28, 1955 [March 1, 1954], No. 5980/54. Class 123(3) The temperature of superheated steam produced in a unit comprising primary and secondary stage superheaters 1, 2 is regulated by injecting varying amounts of pure water into the steam flow through spray devices 13, 14, located respectively between the superheaters and after the final superheater, the amount of water injected being controlled by valves (not shown), which are adjusted according to variations in the final steam temperature as sensed by a device 15 located at the final superheater outlet. To obtain the water used in the spray devices, the whole of the saturated steam from the boiler associated with the unit is passed through a condenser 4 before entering the first superheater. Part of the steam condenses, the condensate flowing into a chamber 7 having a level control 8 which regulates the coolant supply to the condenser coil 6 by actuating a valve 9 at the coil inlet. The condensate is pumped from chamber 7 to devices 13, 14 by a pump 12.
