Abstract

Controlling and moderating superheat.-In a steam-generating plant comprising a steam and hot-water storage-unit 3 and a superheat storageunit or regenerator 18, which receives heat from the boiler steam and returns it to the saturated steam unit 3, a part of the steam passing from the regenerator on its way to the consumer 2 is taken, under the control of a valve 19, through a coiled pipe 21 or other heat exchanger in the unit 3. Steam from the unit 3 is led through a pipe 6 into the boiler steam-pipe 4. The flow of boiler water into the unit 3 is controlled by a valve 7 operated by a pressure-actuated piston device in pipe 6. The regenerator may be of the kind in which the steam passes through chequer brickwork.
