Abstract
389,702. Instantaneous steam boilers. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. July 5, 1932, No. 18979. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1931. [Class 123 (ii).] Water-tube steam boilers of " once-through " type have a number of evaporating units to which working medium is fed under pressure directly from a single main feed pipe common to all, one or more change-over devices being provided whereby the units can be connected so that the medium passes through them in series, parallel, or series-parallel. Medium is fed through an inlet pipe 3 to evaporating units 2, 1, which are connected in series or parallel according to the position of a rotary valve 6. The series arrangement is employed in the case of small loads to prevent excessive diminution in the speed of the medium. In a modification six units and two change-over devices are employed and groups of two or more units connected in parallel may be connected in series. The diameter and length of the tubes of the several units may be the same or different.
