500,882. Forced-flow steam boilers. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Aug. 16, 1937, No. 22441. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1936. [Class 123 (ii)] In water-tube steam boilers with a combustion chamber 1 surrounded by water-tubes the bends 5 in the tubes 3 of a bank screening the chamber walls 4 from direct heat radiation are themselves screened by a number of straight sections 6 of tube extending transversely with respect to the tubes of the bank. The tubes may form part of the same tube system as tubes 3, liquid being supplied to one end and superheated steam being withdrawn from the other. The system ma.y comprise a series of groups of tubes in parallel with the groups at the end preferably having more tubes than those at the beginning or the tubes may be individually arranged in parallel and connected at their ends to headers.
