Abstract
491,005. Steam superheaters; heating feedwater. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Dec. 18, 1936, No. 34788. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1935. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (iii)] A superheater, feedheater or like tubular heat - exchanger has upright headers 241, 243 connected by horizontal sinuous tubes resting one on the other, the transverse portions of adjacent tubes being staggered to permit the passage of the heating gases between and across the tubes. Parts 242 of the tubes of a superheater are extended beyond the sinuous parts to form the walls of a flue chamber from which the gases flow across the tubes. A feedheater has additional bends extending longitudinally of the flue. The superheater and feedheater are arranged above a once through boiler constructed as described in Specification 490,455.
