Abstract

490,459. Forced - flow steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Dec. 18, 1936, No. 34798. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1935. [Class 123 (ii)] In a forced-flow boiler with a number of long parallel-connected small-bore tubes, such as is described in Specification 490,457, each tube A is supplied with water from an inlet header 203 through a long pipe 345 having a greater resistance than the boiler tube to the water flow. The resistances are designed to proportion the water supply to the tubes in accordance with the amounts of heat they receive, in order that the tubes may deliver steam of the same degree of saturation. The resistor pipes are readily detachable, and the openings on the boiler casing through which the boiler tubes project for connection with the resistor pipes are closed by flexible gas-tight members 351.
