Abstract

551,700. Water-tube steam boilers; feedwater heating systems. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., and ZOLLER, R. E. Sept. 2, 1941, No. 11223. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii)] In a water-tube boiler with two gas passes 10, 11 which are regulated by dampers 12, 13, a feedheater arranged above the water tubes has two sections connected in parallel water flow, and a part 14 or 16 of a section is arranged in one gas pass and a part 17 or 15 in the other gas pass. Water flows from an inlet pipe 18 first downwards through the sections 14, 16 in counterflow to the furnace gases and then upwards through the parts 17, 15 of the resepctive sections in parallel flow with the gases. The counterflow parts 14, 16 are larger than the parallel flow parts 17, 15. A superheater 7 is arranged between the boiler tubes on one side of the furnace.
