Abstract
582,716. Water-tube steam boilers. FOSTER WHEELER, Ltd., and SAMPSON, W. July 7, 1943, No. 11045. [Class 123 (ii)] A steam boiler has three separately fired furnaces 1, 3, 7 the gases from two of which, 1, 3, flow over a superheater 4 to a common outlet 5, the gases from one of the two, 3, being cooled by passage over boiler tubes 11 before reaching the superheater, and the gases from the third furnace 7 flowing over a reheater 8 on their way to the common outlet 5. There may be an economiser 6 in the uptake 5. The gases from the furnace 3 flow over a baffle 2 or, in another form, around the back of a partition which separates the furnaces 1, 3. In a third form, the furnace 7 is on the outside of the furnace 3, and the reheater is placed either in the bank of tubes separating these two furnaces, or above or behind a partition which separates them.
