U-tube and like superheaters.-In a water-tube boiler having a superheater arranged between banks of water-tubes, the elements of the superheater are placed so closely toaether that the superheater acts as a leaky baffle, which directs nearly all the furnace gases along the first bank of water-tubes before entering the second bank. The superheater 5, Fig. 1, arranged between the tubes of a Yarrow boiler has U-tube elements, each of which is encased in cast-iron rings 6, Fig. 2. The elements pass through removable plates 9 in the boiler wall and are connected to headers 12 enclosed by a casing 10. A baffle 13 is placed behind the superheater.
