Abstract

4408. Stirling Boiler Co., and Mackay, H. J. S. March 20. Water-tube boilers.-In a Stirling boiler of the three-drum type, the bank of tubes 6 nearest the furnace is fitted with three baffles 10, 11, 13, which form three passes for the gases. A fourth baffle 16 extends downwards amongst the tubes of the rear bank. The superheater, consisting of tubes 15 connected to headers on the top of the boiler, is arranged in the space between the two banks of tubes and adjacent to the baffle 13. An imperforate partition 18 is provided in the mud drum 5 so as to bridge groups of water-tubes separated by the baffle 10.
