4384. Peters, C. Feb. 20. Water-tube boilers.-In a boiler comprising upper and lower drums connected by groups of tubes, some of which are protected from the hot gases to form downcomers. groups of tubes are provided on each side with pairs of spaced partitions extending from front to rear of the combustion chamber, each pair of partitions having in the space between them a group of downcomer tubes. The groups of tubes c, c<1>, c<2> connecting two upper and two lower drums are divided by pairs of partition walls h, between which downcomer-tubes d<1>, d<2> are disposed. The outer downcomer-tubes d, d<3> are arranged in the side walls g. Water is fed to the downcomers by separate pipes k opening between partition plates i in the upper drums.
