Abstract
22,441. Bell, J. E. Nov. 25, 1904, [date appliedfor under Patents Act, 1901]. Water-tube b o i l e r s ; superheaters, steam.-In place of the usual upper and a lower drum, fitted with partitions which divide the tubes into groups in series, the superheater is provided with at least three drums. In Fig. 1, which shows the superheater in the rear of the boiler, two upper drums 9, 10 are connected by tubes 12, 13 with a lower drum 11. The steam enters the drum 10 and passes downwards to the drum 11 and thence upwards to the drum 9. Baffles 15, 16 deflect the furnace gases amongst the tubes 12, 13. In Fig. 2, the superheater is shown with one upper and two lower drums 9, 10. A pipe 22 connects the drum 10 with the steam and water drum 2. Fig. 5 shows the superheater located between the banks of generating-tubes, 5, 6.
