Abstract
2838. Mosher, C. D. Feb. 5. Water-tube boilers ; superheaters, steam.-The superheater, located between the group of generating-tubes 12 and the steam.and water drums 14, is composed of front and rear drums 28, 29 connected by curved tubes 30. These tubes are adapted to be withdrawn through plugged holes 31 in the drums 28, 29. The manner of withdrawal is indicated in dotted lines, suitable openings being provided in the front and back of the boiler. The generating- tubes 12 are also arranged for withdrawal through a single row of holes in the front drum 10. The superheater is connected at the back end with the internal steam-pipe 19 of each drum 14, and at the front with the main steam-pipe 18. For flooding purposes, the main feed-pipe 36 is provided with branches 39, which enter the rear drum 29. Baffles 22, 24, 25 determine the course of the furnace gases amongst the generating and superheating tubes.
