Abstract
22,442. Bell, J. E. Dec. 13, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Water-tube b o i l e r s ; superheaters, steam.-Relates to modifications in the combined boiler and superheater described in Specification No. 26,895, A.D. 1903. According to the present invention, the boiler may be made of less height by arranging at least two banks of generating tubes behind the superheater. Fig. 1 shows a boiler composed of three upper drums 2, 3, 4 and two lower drums 5, 6. The drum 6 is connected with the drum 4, and the drum 5 with the drums 2, 3. The superheater is placed in the second pass of the gases, and is composed of upper and lower drums connected by tubes 15. Partitions in the drums divide these tubes into groups in series. In a modification, the gases pass under the lower drum of the superheater.
